Consequently, this has resulted in the government implementing the Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations.
Display Screen Equipment (DSE) workers can often experience a wide range of health problems ranging from eyestrain, blurred vision, headaches, and musculoskeletal problems including RSI etc.
In accordance with the Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations ‘users’ of DSE are required to have their workstations assessed. Therefore employers have a duty to ensure that the assessments are carried out by competent people and should include input from relevant employees.
Display screen equipment (DSE) is classed as any work equipment that has a screen that displays information. Typical examples are computer screens often called monitors or VDUs. During the initial inspection of your premises Citation plc’s health and safety consultant will identify and advise your organisation about areas of deficiencies and any individual that is at risk due to poor posture whilst using their computer equipment. Your Health and Safety Management System will contain detailed guidance on how to complete the assessment and the necessary documentation to enable you to complete your assessment within your premises.
