JOB TITLE: Health and Safety Consultant
Reports To: Regional Manager of Health and Safety Department: Health and Safety
Role Purpose:
To provide a bespoke and legally compliant Health and Safety service to clients from a wide variety of industries and the provision of relevant H&S advice and guidance to clients as appropriate to their contracted service
Key Accountabilities and Key Activities
1: Client care :
- Initial contact with the client within defined timeframe
- Development of the client relationship
- Accurately identify client requirements to ensure needs and expectations are met (in accordance with their contracted services)
- Provide relevant, timely advice, reports, information, etc. to clients
- Compliance with agreed Business KPI’s
- Preparation of clients H&S policy documentation e.g. system and handbooks, within agreed KPI’s
- Preparation of the clients H&S Audit report with agreed KPI’s
- Installation of the clients H&S system at the client premises
- Provision of client training, including Citassess, H&S awareness, toolbox, etc. as appropriate to their contracted service
- Ongoing support to meet changing clients needs and to account for changes in legislation and agreed/requested amends
- Organisation of client visits in an efficient and cost effective manner
- Effective utilisation of provided IT resources
- Allocation of appropriate administration time to meet Business KPI’s
- Track progress of client documentation and take appropriate action to support clients and meet agreed KPI’s
- To attend all internal meetings and any approved external conferences and training courses
- To utilise all learning resources available e.g. Ti-onestop, Internet, memberships of professional bodies, Trade Publications, etc.
- Actively commit to self development
- Maintain a good working knowledge of Health and Safety law and practice that is appropriate to Citations H&S clients and services
- To participate in the Citation Health and Safety – Telephone advisory service responding to client queries in a timely fashion as appropriate
- To support the helpline service during normal working hours as requested, providing suitable call summary information to H&S Admin
- To support the BDMs in providing Health and Safety advice to potential clients to assist in securing new business
- Proactively support colleagues as dictated by changing workload demands
- Successful networking between members of the H&S team
- To provide a positive and professional image of the Citation Health and Safety service to both internal and external customers
- To share relevant client information with colleagues
- To share relevant skills and knowledge with colleagues
- To deliver training sessions for clients/colleagues as appropriate
- Be aware of the scope of Citation plc Health & Safety and Personnel/Employment Law services, identifying any relevant additional service opportunities within existing/prospect client groups

Essential role related knowledge, skills, qualifications and experience at selection
- Strong H&S generalist background and experience
- Appropriate qualifications
- Strong knowledge of current / proposed H&S law, ACoP’s, Industry Standards, etc.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Evidence of a commitment to CPD
- Strong organisational/time management skills

- Full UK driving licence
