Following a surge in COVID-19 cases throughout 2020’s festive period, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a new, national lockdown in England on 4 January 2021. This followed Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announcing another national lockdown in Scotland.

From Tuesday 5 January, a number of non-essential businesses must close their doors, people must only travel for work if they “absolutely cannot work from home”, and can only leave home for a limited number of reasons, including shopping for essentials, exercise, medical assistance and escaping domestic abuse.

For a full list of businesses that are expected to close their doors, please visit the government website here.

These measures are planned to be in place until mid-February, depending on the roll-out of the vaccine to the most vulnerable. But is your business prepared to close for an extended period of time once more?
