In Rishi Sunak’s Spring Budget on 3 March, he unveiled his plans for the coming 12-months, the most anticipated of which included his plans to help businesses get through the pandemic and an extension of the furlough scheme to September.

In his speech, he confirmed that the furlough scheme will be extended to the end of September 2021. Although there are no changes to an employee’s entitlement under the scheme, employers will be asked to start making contributions to the furlough payment employees receive for hours not worked, from July.

The government also announced an extension of eligibility for the scheme, for both employees and employers.

Our Employment Law experts have created an at-a-glance overview of what we know about the newly extended scheme so far so you can understand how it’s likely to affect your business.
