Paternity leave and pay now available in Ireland

Following a commitment in ‘Budget 2016’, statutory paternity leave of up to two consecutive weeks is now available in Ireland for the ‘relevant parent’ of a child born or placed for adoption on or after 1 September 2016. State Paternity Benefit at a flat rate of €230 is also available, with the same PRSI contribution conditions as for State Maternity Benefit.
