ISO 45001

In a nutshell, ISO 45001 is all about providing businesses with practical solutions to managing Health & Safety risks, while simultaneously keeping costs down.

It’s the new and improved international standard for Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Management, and it replaces the previous OHSAS 18001 standard.

By applying for and achieving ISO 45001 certification, you’ll reduce your workplace’s Health & Safety risks, which keeps you, your business, your employees and members of the public as safe as possible – and proves it with an accredited certificate.

The benefits of being ISO 45001 certified

There are plenty of benefits to achieving ISO 45001 certification, like:

  • Helping to enhance Health & Safety awareness in your business and encouraging employees to take a more active role in driving safety.
  • Improving your business’ reputation on an international scale, giving you a competitive edge.
  • Offering reassurance to customers that Health & Safety is of upmost importance to your business.
  • Reducing Health & Safety risks will inevitably reduce workplace injuries, which’ll in turn reduce absenteeism and employee turnover.
  • Often, having a documented OH&S Management Systems in place can help to cut your insurance premium costs.
  • You’ll remove or at the very least control any hazards that stem from any of your workplace’s activities.

Certification outcomes

By the time you’ve completed the ISO 45001 certification process, you’ll be equipped with all the knowledge needed to confidently:

  • Understand your business’ internal and external OH&S issues and manage them effectively.
  • Roll out an approach whereby top management play an important role in leading your OH&S Management Systems.
  • Highlight areas for improvement and implement preventative measures to avoid workplace accidents.
  • Evaluate your Health & Safety systems on an ongoing basis and effectively demonstrate continual improvement.
