This will delay the implementation of Regulations to introduce new rules, due to be introduced from 6 April 2014, to remove the current need for an employee to show that they have a ‘caring’ requirement before they can request flexible working.
There is no firm date for implementing the new rules and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills won’t be drawn on the matter, saying that the new rules will be implemented “…at an appropriate date as soon as possible this year”.
