CQC Compliance for GPs

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has today confirmed that the new regulations will be extended to include GPs.

The new CQC standards will now be applicable to Care Homes, Dentists, GP Practices and other care environments and each will be rated as outstanding, good, requires improvement or inadequate.

Any care business which is rated as inadequate faces closure if the identified problems are not resolved within six months.

By bringing GP practices in to line with other sectors regulated by the CQC, the CQC help to more quickly identify failings and ensure services for people improve

All businesses regulated by the CQC should be aware of the changes coming in to play in October, when the regulations will switch from the current Essential Standards format towards the new CQC Fundamentals. The switch sees the focus of regulation move away from processes to the quality of care being provided.

Citation offers specific tools for ensuring compliance with current CQC Essential standards, and has the facility to help those in the case sector move towards the new Fundamentals.
