No need to ask Google – we have the answers right here.
Construction is a high-risk industry, and we don’t want injuries or fatalities. So, Health & Safety is important to keep people safe by controlling risks to health and reducing the likelihood of people coming to harm and suffering from ill health.
It’s also a legal requirement under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM) and the Management of Health and Safety Regulations 1999.
Health & Safety also needs to be integrated into everything constructed to reduce residual risks in future (building regulations).
This is usually the construction site manager – however there are many different stakeholders under the CDM Regulations 2015.
It all depends on the specific site, but as a basic overview:
Lee Mills, Service Director
MA(law), MSc.Eng, BSc(Hons), CMIOSH, MIIRSM
Lee has over 15 years’ experience in the construction industry and holds almost every relevant qualification under the sun! He has specific expertise in everything from CDM Regulations and dealing with fatal accidents to liaising with the HSE and training businesses in Behavioural Safety. He heads up Citation’s Health & Safety service, and is responsible for ensuring the field team and advice line know how to meet the needs of construction businesses like yours.
