CQC to rate all social care services by 2016

Care - My NHS

The CQC has now inspected over 5,000 social care services across the UK, with 58% of services judged to be good to outstanding. They are planning to rate all 17,000 homes by September 2016.

Inspections are also changing, with a more thorough approach being used. Beth Britton, wrote in the Guardian

“Inspections will only ever be a snapshot of a service, but by having a larger team and implementing a more thorough methodology, this regulation was far more comprehensive and insightful than any used in my dad’s time in care homes.”

This new approach is meaning that some care homes have gone from being ‘compliant’ to ‘requiring improvement’ or even ‘inadequate’.

In response to the CQC changes, Citation has developed a CQC specific tool to address the issues that care providers face. Take a look at CQC Pro
