In the first wave of the pandemic, visits to loved ones were stopped completely and it was an exceptionally challenging time for residents and their family and friends.

Visiting is also crucial for family and friends to maintain contact and life-long relationships with their loved ones, and to contribute to their support and care.

With COVID cases rising across the UK, it’s important care homes facilitate visits while controlling the risk of infection, from limiting the number of visitors, testing arrangements and isolation for high-risk activities. From 15 December, every care home resident can nominate up to 3 named visitors (this number does not include essential care givers or preschool age children).
