In the first wave of the pandemic, visits to loved ones were stopped completely and it was an exceptionally challenging time for residents and their family and friends.

From 17 May, and as part of the roadmap out of lockdown and easing of restrictions, every care home resident can nominate up to five named visitors who will be able to enter the care home for regular visits, with only two of the visitors allowed to visit at once.

Each care setting has a unique layout and facilities so it’s best practice to work visiting arrangements around your setting to comply with COVID regulations.

Our in-house care experts have summarised what care providers need to know and how you can arrange visits so that they are as safe as possible. In this guide, you’ll find more information about:

  • How many visitors it’s safe for residents to have
  • Types of visits that comply with the latest rules
  • Carrying out dynamic risk assessments
  • How to create and communicate visiting polices
