What is Smas accreditation?

Smas Worksafe is a registered member of Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) – endorsed by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

Since 2006, Smas Worksafe has been providing quality accreditation to companies across the UK, covering industries like construction, manufacturing, and civil engineering. But don’t worry – businesses from all backgrounds are open to apply! If you have to tender for work, or need Health & Safety accreditation, come see how Smas can help you.

Your certificate will last for 12 months, and then you’ll need to renew it to make sure everything stays up to date.

Smas Worksafe’s product tiers

Smas offers three tiers of Health & Safety certification:

• Worksafe: SSIP (Health & Safety and Identity)
• Worksafe Plus: SSIP plus the Smas Standard (including quality and environmental management, and the Building Safety Act 2022)
• Worksafe Pro: The Common Assessment Standard (CAS – including building information modelling and corporate social responsibility)

How the Smas application process works

For Smas’s Worksafe (SSIP) package, all you need to do it:

1. Gather all your documents to answer ten key questions, based on the SSIP’s 14 Core Criteria – for Citation clients, your data is stored in our online management platform, Atlas, keeping everything in one place.
2. Use your documents as evidence of your competence and safe practices.
3. Send your application – and the Smas Worksafe assessors will get to work checking it.
4. Receive your results in as little as one day, and your certificate shortly after that.

Remember: you can call for support or guidance at any time during the application process.

The process is the same for both their Worksafe Plus and Worksafe Pro packages – but there are a larger number of questions that cover even more of your business practices.
