The total level of fees invoiced for the second 6 months of this 12 month period represents a 16% increase compared with the previous 6 months. Citation expects these figures to rise continually throughout 2014.

The main sectors affected by these charges were manufacturing and construction and the region where most invoices were sent was the Northwest of England.

FFI falls under the Health and Safety (Fees) Regulations 2012, which allows companies that breach health and safety laws to be liable for fees to cover HSE related costs, including call-outs, inspections, investigations and taking enforcement action.

Further information about FFI and ways to avoid FFI can be found in the Citation Fact sheet entitled “Fees for Intervention”.
