The HSE have released new statistics that show the rate of ill-health or work related injuries and fatalities from the year 2014/15.
It is estimated that 27.3 million working days have been lost due to a work related injury or illness, with over 1.2 million people having suffered from a work-related illness in Great Britain over the 2014/15 period. The key take-aways from the stats include:

  • 1.2 Million working people suffering from a work-related illness
  • 142 workers killed at work
  • 76,000 other injuries to employees reported under RIDDOR
  • 611,000 injuries occurred at work according to the Labour Force Survey
  • 27.3 million working days lost due to work-related illness and workplace injury
  • £14.3 billion estimated cost of injuries and ill health from current working conditions (2013/14)

According to the HSE, East Midlands has the highest rate of cases of workers with ill health in a 3 year average, however Scotland had the highest fatality rate at work, and the North West had the highest prosecution rate.
